About
Zainab Jamali is 17 years old and a student at Calabasas High School. She has been training at Team Karate Centers since she was 5 years old and has been teaching with us, at Little Ninjas Karate, for over 3 years now. She tested for her first-degree black belt in 2013 and her second-degree in 2015.
She started her martial arts journey at 5 years old after attending a Little Ninjas birthday party for one of her friends. Since that day, she has been a committed student at Team Karate Centers. She values the discipline, respect, and confidence she has learned during her years at the studio and will hold on to those virtues throughout her life.
Outside of martial arts, Zainab spends a lot of her time doing volunteer work raising money to support education and health initiatives in underdeveloped countries. She also is an intern at Los Robles Hospital working on research for a stroke-related clinical trial. Above all, Ms. Z is an avid world-traveler. She spent last summer living in Costa Rica with a host family to learn Spanish and travels to different countries with her family every chance she gets. Some of her favorite countries that she has visited are Egypt, Spain, France, and Japan.
Ms. Z will be applying to college within the next year and hopes to study global health before continuing on to medical school. She hopes to take her medical degree and apply it to international medical non-profit work.
Ms. Z has told us that continuing teaching at Little Ninjas keeps her grounded in her life and reminds her to live a virtuous life every day. “I hope to teach those virtues to my students, not with words, but by example.”
